ZANTEL REMEMBERS FLOOD VICTIMS IN PEMBA SOUTH- ZANZIBAR.

Pemba. Zantel has donated three hundred and fifty (350) iron sheets as well as 350 bags of cement to victims of the recent floods that invaded Pemba Island in Zanzibar.

The donation is meant to assist in rebuilding and repairing houses that were destroyed as a result of the floods that left several residents homeless while others seeking shelter at their neighbours.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Zantel Head in Zanzibar Mohamed Khamis Mussa (Baucha) said Zantel was deeply touched by the disaster that invaded the Pemba community where they have a huge customer base, they decided to join hands with the Government to support the victims and ensure they can go back to their normal lives.

"A flood disaster should be addressed by all Tanzanians and not just the Government alone and so I would like to request all well-wishers as well as various companies that have been touched by the disaster to come forth and hand over their donations”. He said.

Receiving the donation, the Regional Commissioner of Pemba South, Mwanajuma Zantel Majid Abdallah thanked Zantel for being the first company to come out and support her people and appealed to other companies to come forward and support the efforts being made by the Government in restoring the joy of the people of Pemba.

"I would like to say thank you a lot Zantel, you have always been at the forefront in supporting us whenever we are faced with challenges. A lot is still needed to help the victims but we thank you for responding so fast and uniting with the government in helping the victims,” she said.
